Town of Milan Monthly Meeting Minutes, July 12, 2021

Meeting called to order by Deborah Shumate, Council President, on Monday July 12, 2021 at 6:30 pm. All Council members presnt. All Present joined in giving the Pledge of Allegiance.

Minutes of May meetings were presented. There being no addition to said minutes, Drew Olman made a motion to approved as written, with Mark Marsee seconding. All ayes.

Claims/Financials/Pavroll: After review, motion to accept and pay claims was made by Mark Marsee, seconded by Drew Olman. All ayes. Motion carried.

Town Report: Same presented by Doug Price.

Town Marshall's Report: Same presented by Phillip Wilson, Town Marshal.

Milan Park Board Report: No report

Concerns/Comments from the public:

Jane Vinup asked when the sidewalks were going to be finished, because her store has been closed for a month. Doug was not certain what the time frame would be. She also, asked about the lot across from her house not being mowed.

Susan Cottingham informed Council there was a lid missing from the water meter in front of the museum. It was explained that is was off because the sidewalk had just been poured.

Alan Hoffman wanted to know who was responsible for the removal of vicious dogs. Drew informed him it was the county. Various audience members told their personal stories concerning the same dog. Officer Wilson explained the proper procedure when encountering a vicious dog .

Leslie Allen asked if there would be any problems with having the Christmas Walk again this year. Council did not see any problems.

Mike Duffy asked about sewer grants. Council informed him that the town is now in the process of trying to acquire a grant.

Mrs. Bailey asked if the crosswalk is going to be repainted. She was informed that the highway in front of the school is a state highway and would have to be addressed through the state. Attorney Fledderman suggested she contact her state representative.

Solicitation request was presented to Council. American Legion wanted to raise funds for Coats for Kids on 9/4/21. Request was granted and fees waived by a motion from Mark and a second from Drew. All ayes. Motion passed.

Doug asked Council for help with water issues on properties. Council asked him to get more information and see what we can do to help the issue.

Miscellaneous Business:

Leslie Allen wanted to know if the town was working on cleaning up the lake. She was informed that Aqua Control is coming next week to see what needs to be done.

Drew makes a motion to adjourn with Mark Seconding. Meeting adjourned.
