Town of Milan Monthly Meeting Minutes, May 11, 2020

Meeting called to order by Deborah Shumate, Council President, on Monday May 11, 2020 at 6:30 pm. Council members present were Deb Shumate and Drew Olman. All Present joined in giving the pledge of Allegiance.

Deb Shumate updated the viewers on Facebook and the ones in the audience on the current situation with dealing with the Corona Virus.

Minutes of April 13, 2020 were presented. There being no corrections, Drew made motion to approve with Debbie seconding. Minutes from April were approved as written.

Claims/Financials/Payroll: After review, motion to accept and pay claims made by Drew, seconded by Debbie. All Ayes. Motion carried.

Town Manager's Report: Same presented by John Ingram, Town Manager.

Town Marshall's Report: Same presented by Andrew Olman, on behalf of Phillip Wilson,

Milan Park Board Report: No member present.

Concerns/Comments from the public:

Sally Gosmeyer thanked the Town workers for taking down the baskets for the Beautification Committee. She, also, asked the Town Council to once again donate to the Beautification Committee . Debbie asked about possibly setting something up in our Budget every year for this purpose. Lynn Fledderman suggested an oral resolution to donate a set amount for the yearly Budget for this purpose. This would come from the River Boat fund.

Old Business:

John gave an update on the street lights. He stated that he was obtaining a template.

New Business:

Motion was made to table customer write-offs until more research could be done. Motion was made by Drew and seconded by Debbie.

Bids on continuation of W Carr St project were presented to Council. Bid was awarded to Holman Excavating. Motion was made by Drew and seconded by Debbie.

Ryan Langeferman requested permission from Council to hold a caravan for the graduation seniors. This would follow the traditional parade route and be held on 5/30/20. He, also, requested help from the Police Dept. Drew made motion to approve and Debbie seconded.

Miscellaneous Business:

Tonya Marsee asked if there could be more done about the apartments at the old nursing home? Debbie suggested more police exposure.

Property at 510 N. Main was discussed, John stated he had letters ready to go out again.

Another question was if heavy trash was going to resume for the month of June. John stated that he had not heard anything, but, he would call to find out.

Drew Olman made motion to adjourn. Debbie Shumate seconded. Meeting adjourned.


Town of Milan Executive Meeting Minutes, May 11, 2020

Executive meeting called to order by Deborah Shumate, Council President, on Monday, May 11, 2020 at 5:30 p m. Vice President Deb Shumate was the only member of Council present. Drew Olman joined via phone. Also, joining by phone was Attorney Fledderman and Gary Norman.

Purpose of meeting was for discussion of economic development.
