Town of Milan Monthly Meeting Minutes, August 10, 2015

Meeting called to order by Paul Hildebrand, council President, on Monday August 10, 2015 at 6:30pm. All Present joined in giving the pledge of Allegiance.

Minutes of July 13, 2015 were read. Minutes from July Meeting were approved as written.

Claims/Financials: After review of the utility bills presented, motion to accept and pay claims made by Robert Branigan, seconded by Paul Hildebrand. All Ayes Motion carried. After review of the town bills presented, motion to accept and pay claims made by Robert Branigan, seconded by Melissa Baker. Motion Carries with all ayes.

Town Manager’s Report: Same presented by John Ingram, Town Manager.

Town Marshall’s Report: Same presented by Gary Skaggs, Town Marshall.

Milan Park Board Report: No Board Present.

Concerns/Comments from the public:

Deanna Demotte asks board about water bill. Deanna states that she has had a minimum bill since living in Milan, however the last few months it has changed to a higher consumption. Alex States that she has brought the matter to John and that Derek stated the readings were correct and there was not a leak. John states they will look into this further.

Deanna also would like to ask about the fire pit ordinance. Deanna states her neighbors have put a fire pit up but it is not covered. Gary states that it has to be contained including a lid of some sort.

Catherine Taul presents information for the Indiana 200 year celebration. Catherine states that all the towns are having a small gathering for the torch relay. She asks the town to put on some event in order to celebrate. She also states that they are accepting nominations for people to carry a torch in the relay.

Catherine also asks the town board if she can work with Alex Poole in order to set up a crowd funding account to fund the painting of the water tower. Alex states she is willing to help out in any way possible. Catherine states she will contact Alex. The board states they think this is a wonderful idea.

Catherine Taul states that the county corrections program will be working to clean up behind the museum. She is just letting the town know so they are aware.

Deanna Demotte would like to ask about keeping properties kept up. She states that some the houses around her are in need of painting and she would like to know if that is something to town works towards. John states that the town sends letters to properties that need upkeep.

Sally Gosmeyer asks about the Darren Baker Memorial sign at the park. John states they have the parts needed and are waiting for a day to fix it. He states it should be done in the next couple of weeks.

Deanna Demotte would like to ask about the town park bathroom project. John states they have had different dates to start but things keep coming up. John believes October will be near when they start the project.

Old Business:

Safe Passages and Lifetime Resources asks for $1000.00 be budgeted for next year’s budget. Robert makes motion to approve adding it to budget, Melissa seconds. Motion carries with all ayes.

New Business:

Paul moves to approve RCED plan, Robert seconds. Motion carries with all Ayes.

Robert moves to appoint Paul to Ripley County Economic Development Board. Melissa Seconds. Motion passes with all Ayes.

Paul presents quote for a Dodge Charger police Car. Paul makes motion to accept quote and purchase car. Robert Seconds and motion passes with all ayes.

Robert moves to adjourn meeting, Melissa Seconds. All Ayes
